Dead Car

So apparently the Intrepid doesn't want to start this week. It gets to the point where it will almost turn over then goes back to the grating "I usually only do this a couple of seconds" noise. It doesn't seem to be the battery, because we tried to jump it, it shouldn't be out of gas because I filled it up last week. So I really don't know what it is. It will make for some fun arrangements when Jane needs the car, but I should be able to work out some rides with people in the ward just fine. Otherwise life is going quite well. Not really anything else to say for now so Hagomo.

You are going to get all kinds of car advice after a post like that. I'll start it out:

Make sure the battery cables are in good shape and they are connected well to the battery. If you can jiggle them around on the battery terminals at all, jiggle them and try to start the car. Then tighten them. Since jumping didn't work, the positive cable might be corroded on the starter end. Follow it down from the battery to the starter and make sure it's in good shape. Salt on snowy roads can wreak havoc on little breaks in insulation and rust spots.

If all that looks good, it might be the starter solenoid (which is probably built in to the starter, darn modern cars). Good luck.

Well the car has been through a lot so it might just be time for it to be put to rest poor thing! I hope you can get it running though it would be hard where you live clear out in the boonies to have only one car! Good luck! Let me know if we can help in any way.
